High surf expected to subside today

On Sunday surf along the North Shores was in 20-foot-plus range with strong northwest by west kona winds knocking down the surf some.

The National Weather Service is predicting that the high surf will slowly subside today.

A report from Hanalei had kite surfers out enjoying the strong winds, surfing by pier.

Surf along the South Shore was 1 to 3 feet with some wrap around of the high surf showing, while beaches in the Lihu’e area were flat due to the kona wind conditions.
