Sakae Watanabe, Stanley Parnell
Sakae “Maggie” Watanabe of Kapaa, Kauai, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, on Dec. 21, 2002, at the age of 83.
Born in Kealia, Kauai on Sept. 25, 1919, he was a Automotive Mechanic with Datsun of Kauai and also with the 100th Battalion Infantry with the United States Army.
He is survived by his son: Dennis (Gale) Watanabe of Honolulu; two daughters: Gail (Paul) Sakamoto of Westminister, CA., and Beverly (Alan) Fujisawa of Honolulu; three brothers: Chozo (Yasuko) Watanabe of Kapaa, Kauai, Haruo (Delores) Watanabe of Kapaa, Kauai, and Shigeo (Lynda) Watanabe of Gardena, CA; sister: Katherine Watanabe of Hanamaulu, 6 grandchildren.
Service will be held at the All Saints Church in Kapaa officiated by Bishop Richard S.O. Chang on Jan. 4, 2003.

Stanley “Stan” Parnell of Panama City Beach, Florida, died on Dec. 21, 2002 at a local hospital, at the age of 76.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia. He was one of the original 30 members of NASCAR, was active in racing as a driver, promoter, and operator of stock car race tracks. Later in his life he was a founding member of SCORE International promoting and racing in the Southern California deserts. He volunteered with the American Red Cross in Disaster Relief Projects and assisted Hospice organizations with fund raising. He was active in the Shrine and Masonic Lodge and Past President of the Kauai Shrine Club. He also was a charter member of the Santa Anna Scottish Rite Lodge.
He survived by his wife: Joyce Parnell of Panama City Beach, Florida; one daughter: Lynn (Joe) Carstensen of Ranchita, CA; one son: Stanley “Rusty” Parnell Jr. of Callaway, FL; two sisters: Joyce McCullough of Tennessee and Charlotte Patterson of Destin, FL; 1 granddaughter, 1 grandson.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Dec. 29, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel.
