Tsuyoshi Sasaki
Tsuyoshi “Lipto” Sasaki of Lihue, Kaua’i, died on Dec. 14, 2002 at Straub Hospital, at the age of 72.
Born in Lihu’e, Kaua’i, on July 7, 1930, he was a retired carpenter.
He is survived by his son: Victor; daughter: Esther; sisters: Tsuruye (Shigekazu) Nishi; Mitsue “Edith” (Hideo “Legs”) Ibe; Akiyo (Toshio) Matsuyama; Momoe (Raymond) Sato; brother: Hideo (Michie); grandchildren: Bryson Higashi, Shantelle Higashi and Kyrin Sasaki.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Dec. 21, 11 a.m. – noon. at the Kapaia Hongwanji Church, where services will begin at noon. Family request that flowers be omitted. Casual attire is suggested.

John Taeza Sr.
John Taeza Sr. of Kapaa, Kauai, died on Dec. 14, 2002 at the age of 61.
Born in Waimea, Kaua’i on Feb. 24, 1941, he was the Director of Engineering at the Radisson Kauai Beach Resort. He retired from the Hawaiian Air National Guard in 1988 after 23 years of Honorable Service. He served as an instructor at the Kaua’i Community College, and was a member of the St. Catherines Choir as well as many other programs and club’s throughout Kaua’i.
He is survived by his wife: Gwen Taeza of Kapaa, three sons: John Taeza Jr. of Fredericksburg, Virginia; Matthew (Lani) Taeza of Waimea; Mark Taeza of Kapaa and daughter: Holly (Sam) Moises of Kapaa; two brothers: Jerry (Linda) Taeza of California; Henry Taeza of Waimea; three sisters: Maryann (Don) McMillen of Kekaha; Patricia (Barton) Quijano of Oahu and Theresa (Greg) Doroha of California; 10 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, Dec. 23, 9 a.m. to noon, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church where mass will be celebrated at noon. Burial service to follow at St. Catherine’s Church Cemetery in Kealia. Aloha attire is suggested.

Antone Andrade
Antone Andrade of Lawai, Kaua’i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, on Dec. 14, 2002, at the age of 78.
Born in Lawai, Kaua’i, on Jan. 20, 1925, he was a surveyor for City & County Government.
He is survived by his wife: Dorothy Andrade one son: Dennis Andrade; one daughter: Yvonne Andrade; two brothers: Manuel (May) Andrade; Alfred (Susan) Andrade; two sisters: Beatrice Costa; Margaret (William) Medeiros; 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Dec. 20, 2002 at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. where mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. by Father Keahi. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Church Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.

Dorothy Togisala
Dorothy Carvalho Togisala of Omao, died at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home on Dec. 13, 2002, at the age of 83.
Born on March 14, 1919, he was in sales.
He is survived by his sister: Josephine “Josie” Ching of Honolulu; caregiver: Manny Corregedore of Lihue, nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, Dec. 19, at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapa’a from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. where Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Lihue Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.

Peter Leota
Peter P. Leota died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Dec. 11, 2002 at the age of 64.
Born in Brooklyn, New York on April 20, 1938. He served 20 years in the Armed Forces, where he then retired to Kaua’i, to work for the Hawaii Hotel Industry.
He is survived by his wife: Barbara Leota; brother John (Joyce) Leota of Las Vegas; three sons: Peter Leota; John (Jan) Leota; Richard (Verna Bodano) Leota; daughter: Lea (Steven) Myers; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Dec. 21, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe. Aloha attire is suggested.

Herbert William Fune
Herbert William Fune, Sr. died peacefully at home in Kalaheo on Dec. 13, 2002, surrounded by his family. He was born in Koloa on March 9, 1936. His career with the sugar industry lasted 46 years, beginning at McBryde Plantation in 1952 and finally retired as a lead sugar processor at Lihu’e Plantation in 1998. He also worked as a groundskeeper and maintenance man at Olu Pua Gardens for 28 years.
Herbert was preceded in death by his father: Manuel, sister Patricia and infant son Joseph Benito Fune. He is survived by his mother: Anna Freitas Fune of Kalaheo, his beloved wife Rosita Benito, and six children: Herbert William, Jr. (Adela) of Koloa, Desiree Ann Yadao of Kaneohoe, Curtney Andrew, Sr. of Lawai, Ryan Manuel of Denver, Colo., Bradley Patrick (Lorena) of ‘Ele’ele, Kevin Fredrick (Shelcie) of Hanapepe. Herbert is the beloved Papa to 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He will be missed by Sharilyn, Eric, Jonathan, LeinaRose, Benny, Curtney Jr. (Lani Aguinaldo), Christopher, Sierra, Bronson, Jordyn, Justin, Aaron and Andrew.
Herbert is also loved by his sister: Cathline (Richard) Broyles of Kekaha, brothers: James (Theresa) Fune of Hanamaulu, and Richard (Pat) Fune of San Francisco, sisters-in-law: Senaida (Harvey) Kinoshita of Lihu’e, Ida (Salvador) Corrales of Los Angeles and many other nieces, nephews, friends, family, neighbors and co-workers.
Private services following cremation will be officiated by Father Christopher Keahi at Sacred Hearts Church in ‘Ele’ele. Arrangements by Borthwick Mortuary.
