Benedicta “Betty” Pacanas of Koloa, Kauai, died Dec. 4, 2002, at the age of 76.
Born May 6, 1926, in Lihu’e, HI, she worked with the pantry staff at a hotel.
She is survived by one daughter: Rosalind Gay of Koloa; five sons: Edwin Pacanas of Palmdale, Calif., David Pacanas of Koloa, Albert (Cheryl) Pacanas of Fremont, Calif., Dennis Pacanas of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Wes (Patti) Pacanas of Hanapepe, HI; two sisters: Carmen “Randy” Coffing, of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Maria Suan of Honolulu, O’ahu; two brothers: Mariano “Plute” Hostallero and Perfecto “Perry” Hostallero, both of Honolulu; 16 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 12, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary; service will be at 11 a.m. immediately following visitation. Burial will be at Kauai Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in Hanama’ulu.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary.
Petra Bisarra
Petra Ortega Bisarra of Kekaha, Kauai, died at Kauai Care Center, on Dec. 5, 2002 at the age of 85.
Born in Philippines on Oct. 23, 1917, she was a Homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Filamor Sr.; two brothers, Alfredo and Nicolas Ortega; two step-sons, Elmer Filamor Bisarra of CA., and Filamor (Edriane) Bisarra, Jr. of Honolulu; step-daughter, Valerie (Kent) Murata of Honolulu; four step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Wake service will be held at 6 p.m. on Fri., Dec. 13, at the St. Theresa Catholic Church in Kekaha; rosary at 7:30 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Sat., Dec. 14, at the St. Theresa Catholic Church; mass officiated by Father Larry will begin at 11 a.m. Followed by burial at the church cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
James Emoto
James Emoto of Lihue, Kauai, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Dec. 7, 2002 at the age of 73.
Born in Lihue, Kauai on Dec. 7, 1929, he was a Operational Supervisor with the Gas Company.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two sons, Clesson Emoto of Honolulu and Myron (Ena) Emoto of Lihue; daughter, Valerie (Calvin) Fernandez of Honolulu; two sisters, Nancy (Wallace) Nishimoto of Torrance, CA. and Frances (Nobuo) Ono of Fremont, CA.; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the Lihue Baptist Church; service officiated by Pastor Chris Metcalf will begin at 4:30 p.m. Casual attire is suggested.

Louise Kaneakua
Louise Elizabeth Keali’ikalepaokololouonalalaniali’iokamehameha Kahaule Kamanuwai Kaneakua of Kapaa, Kauai, died at home on Dec. 4, 2002 at the age of 92.
Born in Hilo, Hawaii on Oct. 7, 1910, she was a homemaker.
She is preceded in death by husband, James Neenee Puailihau Kaneakua. She is survived by three sons, James Keoua (Beverly) Kaneakua of Kapaa, Kauai; Henry Kealakalae Kunane Kaneakua of Kapaa, Kauai; and William (Anita) Kaneakua of Lihue, Kauai; three daughters, Pauline Leimomi (Milton) Wise of San Diego, Calif.; Elma Leilani Kaneakua of Kapaa, Kauai; and Eloise Ululani (Fendel) Oclit of Kapaa, Kauai; 27 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12, at the Kapaa First Hawaiian Church; service officiated by Kahu Richard Kamanu and Pastor Vic Ariola will begin at 12 noon followed by burial at the Kauai Memorial Gardens. Aloha attire is suggested.
