Louis J. Smith of San Jose, Calif., and formerly of Kaua’i, died Nov. 21, 2002, at the age of 71.
Born March 1, 1931, in Oakland, Calif., he grew up in Los Gatos, was a San Jose State graduate, past Commodore of Coyote Point Yacht Club in San Mateo, Calif., and served on the Board of Trustees of the Antigua Boat Museum in Clayton, New York.
While living on Kaua’i, he attended Kapa’a Missionary Church, drove the bus as a volunteer for Mahelona Hospital and was a member of Kaua’i Tennis Team.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lee Simonth Smith; daughter Leslie Smith of Belmont, Calif. and son Martin Smith of San Jose, Calif.; and one brother, Donald Smith of Kona, HI.
Memorial services were held on Dec. 3, at Menlo Park Presbyterian Church in Menlo Park, Calif.
