Turkey ball begins at Waimea Canyon Park

MILILANI’S Charity Senas slides in safely to third as Kaua’i’s Jenna Mercado waits on the throw.

Pitcher Sherry Gebauer backs the play as the Mililani dugout keeps an eye on the action on the rain-delayed opening day of the Waimea Invitational Softball Tournament played on Thanksgiving day. The Trojans went on to shut out Kaua’i 13-0 with Baldwin handing the Kapa’a Warriors a similar fate, 9-0. Castle also dealt Maui a 9-0 shutout on day one. Action continues at the Waimea Canyon Park through Saturday.
