HILO – The Waimea Menehune girls volleyball team was eliminated Thursday from the Nissan Girls State Volleyball Championship after losing to Kalaheo 15-11, 15-11 at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium in Hilo.
The 2002 Kaua’i Interscholastic Federation champions lost Wednesday to Moanalua in the first round of the tournament, and yesterday was their last chance at playing for the consolation prize.
Waimea’s Britnee Boeder led her team with 9 kills, Virginia Aguilar added 7 and Faafonga Taala and Ashlee Vea had 5 kills apiece.
Amy Lusk slammed 14 kills for Kalaheo. Juliana Sanders had 9 and Meghan Watson added 4
Waimea’s Tafua led her team with 2 blocks.
