POIPU – The Keiki cowboys and cowgirls swarmed the CJM Country Stables in Poipu Sunday to compete in another Keiki and High School Rodeo event.
In Keiki Barrel Racing: In the 5-8 division, Kira Blackstad-Pimental won in 21.22 seconds. Alexis Vasconcelles took second in 23.15 seconds. Hallie Cristobal was third in 24.06 seconds. Marcus Shimogawa was fourth with a 24.74, and Britni Braun was fifth with a 27.11.
In the 9-11 division, Haley Miranda took first in 18.65 seconds. Kelli Carveiro was second with an 18.74. Jessica Falque was third with a 19.74, Kalani Grace was fourth with a 21.59 and Acey Soares was fifth with a 21.76.
In the 12-14 division, Kristyn Vasconcellas took first place in 18.08 seconds. Second place was Damien Decosta, who finished in 18.21 seconds. Oahu’s Tyler Duarte was third with a 19.33. Sumiko Falque finished fourth with a 20.74. Jenna Soares finished fifth with a 20.98.
In Keiki Pole Bending, the 5-8 division, Blackstad Pimental took first in 26.19 second. Shimogawa took second with a 32.56. Mahealani Hurd was third with a 35.77 and Vasconcellas was fourth with a 38.82.
In the 9-11 division, Carveiro took top honors with a 25.10 second finish. Falque followed with a 26.31, and Taylor Ludington (30.04) and Gavin Shimogawa (31.05) followed.
In the 12-14 division, Sumiko Falque took first place with a 22.97 second finish. Oahu’s Tyler Duarte was second, finishing in 24.18 seconds, Julianna Boucher was third with a 24.59 and Kristyn Vasconcelles was fourth with a 25.20.
In Keiki Goat Undecorating: In the 5-8 division, Marcus Shimogawa scorched the competition with a 6.35 second finish. Britni Braun was second with the time of 8.66. Halli Cristobal was third with an 8.91 and Kira Blackstad-Pimental was fourth with a 9.27.
In the 9-11 division, Kalani Grace took top honors, finishing in the time of 7.45 seconds. Acey Soares was second with a 7.92, Jessica Falque was third with an 8.52 and Alannah Morris was fourth with an 8.79.
In the 12-14 division – in Keiki Goat Tying – Sumiko Falque took first place by lengths with a 14.86 second finish. Jenna Soares was second with a 27.19, Julianna Boucher was third with a 28.37 and Jamie Sugai was fourth with a 31.59.
In Keiki Dummy Roping, the 5-8 division, Marcus Shimogawa took first place with a convincing win. His time of 8.83 bested second place finisher Hallie Cristobal, who had a 13.90. Britni Braun was third with a 15.46 and Ross Brun was fourth with a 20.56.
In the 9-11 division, Gavin Shimogawa led the pack with a 9 second finish. Acey Soares was second with a 13.91, Kelli Carveiro was third with a 23.81 and Taylor Ludington was fourth with a 24.76.
In Keiki Breakaway Roping, Jenna Soares soared to first with a 4.64 second finish. Tyler Duarte finished second with a 4.85, Julianna Boucher was third with a 5.53 and Damien DeCosta was fourth with a 6.57.
In Keiki Dally Team Roping, the duo of Chaz Rita and Marcus Laymon walked away with first place, finishing in 11.61 seconds. The team of Kaleo Kaui and Kurtis Low were second with a 13.38, Chaz Rita and Oahu’s Riley Pedro were third with a 15.03 and Damien DeCosta and Randy Brun were fourth with a 18.19.
In Keiki Calf Mugging, Jamie Sugai and Kaleo Kaui teamed to finish first with a 24.18 second finish. Tyler Duarter and Kaleo Kaui were second with a 25.64 and Kristyn Vasconcelles and Tyler Duarter were third with a 26.69.
