POIPU – Coralyn Murayama of Koloa won the All- Around Cowgirl honors at the first annual Kauai All- Girls State Championship Rodeo at CJM Country Stables in Puhi.
The Reserve All Around went to Kristine Sugai of Anahola.
Cowgirls from throughout the State competed for championship buckles in 7 events.
In Barrel Racing, McKenzie McCoy took first place, Murayama was second and Lindsey Aiona took third.
ChereeVasconcelles won the second division of the event, edging Charlene Andrade. Apryl Soares came in third.
Wendy Tannery took top honors in Pole Bending. Murayama was second and Kristine Sugai took third.
Murayama continued her hot streak with Steer Undercorating, where she took first place. Alana Brun was second and Cheree Vasconcelles was third.
The duo of Kristine Sugai and Corinna Vasconcelles won the Dally Team Roping event. Alanne Tasaka and Sue Mahuiki followed in second place and Coralyn Vasconcelles and Apryl Soares were third.
Murayama took first in another event – Breakaway Roping. Wendy Tannery was second and Kristine Sugai was third.
And in Double Mugging, the Kristine Sugai/Kassandra Wong combo took first place, Julie Lone and Debbie Porter were second and Lindsey Akiona and Kelsey Apo were third.
