The Kaua’i Taro Festival’s ho’olaule’a was held Saturday at the Waioli Park at Hanalei, in addition to the taro-making demonstrations, the event featured numerous taro and aina related exhibits, a country store featuring taro products, an art show, continuous entertainment, and a wide variety of foods to satisfy the palette.
Laynie Kelekoma showed off the variety of honu items created by her uncle Juny Yadao at the craft tent. Yadao recently suffered a shoulder injury and during his recovery discovered his new talent. This was his first showing of his unique items; he plans to display his honu opihi shells at the Kaua’i Museum Christmas Craft Fair coming up on December 6-7.
