The County’s Director of Finance, Wallace Rezentes, Jr., announced Thursday that he is taking a position with the federal Transportation Security Administration at Lihu’e Airport as of Oct. 7.
Eugene Jimenez who has been named the new Director of Finance. His appointment lasts until Dec. 1 when Mayor Maryanne Kusaka’s administration ends. Jimenez has been the Deputy Director of Finance since 1995.
Rezentes served as the County’s Director of Finance since 1995. During his tenure, the County of Kaua’i achieved the highest bond rating in its history from Moody’s Rating service. Rezentes also spearheaded a change in the methodology of assessing timeshare properties resulting in valuations closer to fair market value; led the overhaul of the County of Kaua’i’s Web site, to be unveiled next month; and secured lease financing at attractive terms for public safety equipment and Police and Fire Department vehicles. The County of Kaua’i was the recipient of the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, a distinguished award from the Government Finance Officers Association.
