Gov. Ben Cayetano has approved the release of $1 million for signal light and road improvements at a Lihu’e intersection that will provide access to the new Kaua’i County Police station-Civil Defense Emergency Operating Center.
The work at the intersection of Kapule Highway and Ka’ana Road includes the widening of the road, turn lanes and a drainage system, according to county officials.
In managing the work, the county also will accommodate the traffic demands of the new state courthouse, officials said.
The new county building, constructed a a cost of $16 million, is scheduled to open this year.
