A member of the Kaua’i Police Department recruit class checks on child seat specifications with Keiki Injury Prevention Coalition instructor Tammie Napoleon while in the background instructor Bridgette Orsatelli works with another of the recruit class students in adjusting the fit of a child seat during the free safety inspection held at the Wal-Mart parking lot. Moana Taa of the Keiki Injury Prevention Coalition said the ten students in the recruit class were being certified for their Child Seat Technician rating, ending four days of instruction. This is the first time that the KPD recruit class has been fully involved in the certification process. The next free child seat inspection will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5 in conjunction with the Baby Week celebration hosted by Wal-Mart.
