KFD and Rainbow Sports to battle for right to play for HGEA Championship

LIHUE – KFD and Rainbow Sports will battle today at Isenberg Park in a playoff bout for the right to play the Hana Hou in the HGEA Softball League Championship game.

The KFD team will have to face a club currently on a roll. Rainbow Sports topped the Hard Knocks 10-3 Tuesday in the third and final game of a series played at Isenberg.

Lance Nakata allowed three hits to get the win for Rainbow Sports (Garrett Agena came in relief and allowed four hits). Dan Fort took the loss for the Hard Knocks.

Wendell Nonaka had a big night for Rainbow Sports, clubbing three hits and four RBIs. Kelly Robinson added a double and two RBIs, Derek Lincoln had two singles and one RBI and Agena had two hits.

For the Hard Knocks, both Corey Rego and Miles Aquino had two hits apiece.

Nogi’s 11, Na Kolohe 6

They used six pitchers, but it wasn’t enough. The Na Kolohe fell to the Nogi’s 11-6 in the first game at Isenberg Park Tuesday.

Dickie Koerte, Hoku Cup Choy, Hank Ibia, Norman Holt Sr., Marty Curnan and Ryan Waalani each got their hand in the pitching for the Na Kolohe. Marvin Mikasa, who allowed three hits, took the win for the Nogi’s.

Gordon Tamura and Ronnie Matsumura led the Nogi’s with three hits and two RBIs apiece. Scott Ebesu had two singles and two RBIs and Steven Perreira and Kyle Nakagawa each added two singles and one RBI.

Richie Waalani had two singles and one RBI for the Na Kolohe; Ibia added two singles. Six other players added a single apiece.

Hana Hou 5, Custom Limo 2

Hana Hou scored five runs in the second and third innings to edge Custom Limo 5-2 in the second game of HGEA softball in Lihue.

Dan Ouderkirk allowed 10 hits to earn the win; Dee Dee Ibia also allowed 10 hits, but he took the loss.

Alan Santella had a single, a double and two RBIs to lead the Hana Hou. Vernon Parangao added one single and two RBIs. Sieg Mercado had a single and one RBI, and Randy Riggin and John Pimental each added two hits.

Ibia and Brady Takuda each had a single and an RBI to lead Custom Limo. Derek Rapozo and Sam Dias each added two singles.
