A suspect sought in connection with the assault of a woman at a Lihu’e business Thursday morning was found dead in his house in Hanama’ulu that evening, the victim of a suicide, the Kaua’i Police Department said Friday.
The body of Kaimi K. Olanolan, age 20, of Hanama’ulu, was discovered by his family at a home in Hanama’ulu late Thursday afternoon.
An autopsy was to be done Friday, according to the County of Kaua’i, but the results were not yet available yesterday afternoon.
Police officials were not immediately available to discuss the details of the case.
Police investigators sought Olanolan in connection with the assault of a female employee at Home Infusion Associates located in the Dynasty Court complex in Lihu’e.
Olanolan was on a delivery to the Lihu’e company at 9:43 a.m. Thursday when he reportedly attacked the woman and attempted to drag her into the back of the office, according to assistant police chief Gordon Isoda.
Olanolan was an employee of a courier company.
Co-workers of the unidentified woman involved in the assault heard her struggle and called for help, police said. The attacker then fled the scene.
Police investigators have not determined a motive for the attack, but noted Olanolan had made deliveries to Home Infusion in the past.
