Mitsuru Doi
Mitsuru Doi on Hanamaulu died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Aug. 19, 2002. He was born on June 12, 1924 in Koloa. He was retired from the County of Kaua’i and a member of the 442 and 100th Battalion.
He is survived by his wife: Matsuko Shigeta Doi, daughter: Lauren Jayne (Reyn) Yet, sister: Marian Doi Matsuda and one grandchild.
Family and friends can call on Saturday, Aug. 24, at Lihu’e Christian church from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Burial will be at 12:45 p.m. at Kaua’i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
The family requests aloha attire and no flowers.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Gerald Dietz
Gerald “Jerry” Dietz, 64, died at his home in Banning, Calif. July 21, 2002, after a lengthy illness.
Born March 5, 1938 in Akron, Ohio, he lived and worked on Kaua’i for many years. He was a carpenter and worked construction, for Ralph Mossman and for various other companies and contractors. He then branched out and worked on golf courses, on Kaua’i, Maui, at Eagle Point in Oregon and in Puerto Rico.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; a daughter, Kailani Dietz of Ha’ena and her son, Kyle; a son, Mario Hendrickson of Kapa’a and his son, Kapu; and a brother, Bob, of Banning, CA.
There will be services and the scattering of his ashes on the beach at Lumahai Sunday, August 25, at 10 a.m., and the scattering of his ashes, followed by a reception for friends and family at Black Pot Park in Hanalei. For more information, call 826-9172.
