A motorcycle accident on Tuesday, July 23 on Hekili Road near Kawaihau Road in Kapa’a, resulted in one man being treated at the Wilcox Memorial Hospital Emergency Room.
Police reports were not available, but American Medical Response operations manager Zach Octavio confirmed that the motorcycle driver, a male, was treated for injuries at the scene. AMR took precautions against spinal injuries before transporting him to the hospital emergency room.
Injuries were not serious; the patient was treated and released on Tuesday.
The female victim of a two-vehicle crash Monday morning along Kuhio Hwy. just north of Wailua Golf Course was released from Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Tuesday after being held in observation since her initial treatment.
The woman was a passenger in a south-bound rental Toyota car whose driver attempted a U-turn along Kuhio Hwy. during contra-flow hours, police said. The rental vehicle was struck by a north-bound delivery truck.
The contra-flow traffic designation allows two south-bound lanes and one north-bound from Kapa’a to the Kuhio Hwy. – Kaumuali’i Hwy. junction.
Neither driver was charged with traffic violations, and police said that driver inattention was the cause of the collision.
