With summer here and increased beach usage coupled with heavy trade winds, the island’s east facing beaches are sadly accumulating litter and ocean debris.
Pahio Vacation Ownership, Inc. in sponsoring a beach cleanup on Wednesday, July 10, from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
The cleanup will start from the beach at the Kaua’i Beach Villas/Radisson Hotel and finish at Kamalani Kai Bridge.
The public is invited with parking for volunteers provided at the west end of the Radisson parking lot. Volunteers are asked to meet at the beach fronting the Radisson.
Trash bags and water will be provided on the route.
A reminder for volunteers to bring their own gloves, protective footwear and sunscreen.
Pahio Vacation Ownership, Inc. will provide complimentary lunch and refreshments for all volunteers after the cleanup.
Call Dickie Chang, Pahio Kaua’i Beach Resorts Activity coordinator at 245-5782 with the number of volunteers to get a count for the ordering of food and beverage.
Participants who own 4X4 vehicles are needed to help with hauling of filled trash bags for disposal.
Pahio Vacation Ownership, Inc. will be planning a second beach cleanup on the north shore within the next few weeks, and will also support other organizations with their beach cleaning projects throughout the island.
