Mustangs win, Broncos fall in State baseball tourney on Oahu

The West Kaua’i Mustang All Stars won and the West Kaua’i Broncos fell in its first outings of the Hawaii Regional Tournament in Mililani on Wednesday.

In the Mustang division, West Kaua’i topped Mililani B 4-3.

West Kaua’i ace Trent Allianic notched the win for Kaua’i. Christopher Kaiakapu was stifling as Allianic’s relief.

Outstanding players: Michael Acoba had one hit; Kaulana Waalani-Arroyo had a double with one RBI; Branden Scovel had a bunt single and two RBIs; Kalani Fernandez walked twice and scored twice; Aaron Medeiros hit a single.

For the Broncos, West Kaua’i led most of the way, but Waianae came back in the bottom of the sixth inning to eventually win 17-13.

Outstanding players: Fetulele Taala had a two-run homer; also with hits: Bradley Frasco, Reyn Lazaro, Kelly Batis, Reggie Vigilia, Vaughn Meatoga, Kailan Malama.
