Grove Farm plans to begin construction soon on a roadway that will connect Puhi Road with Pikake Street and provide another alternative route between Puhi and Lihu’e.
The Kaneka-Nuhou project will be a combination of in-place and new roadway, allowing motorists to avoid congested Kaumuali’i Highway.
It will eventually meet up with the intersection of Puhi Road and Leleiona Street, where Kauai Foreign Cars is located, wind behind Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School, and link up with Pikake Street near Kukui Grove Park and Pavilion.
“Hopefully we’ll be well done before the year turns,” said Allan A. Smith, Grove Farm vice president. “People are really looking forward to that road being constructed.”
