Amy Emiko Awtrey of Kapa’a died at home on June 20, 2002, at the age of 69.
Born in Waimea, Kaua’i on May 12, 1933, she was a retired school teacher in California and businesswoman on Kaua’i.
She is survived by two daughters Becky (Bill) Chappell of Kapa’a and Donna (Keith) Flavetta of California; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild; eight brothers: Yukimitsu (Aiko) Munechika of Japan, Hisao (Sue) Munechika of Waimea, Noboru (Michie) Munechika of Puhi, Ken (Grace) Munechika of Honolulu, Joe (Judy) Munechika of Lihue, George (Beryl) Kitamura of Arizona, James Kitamura of Waimea, and Larry Kitamura of Honolulu; two sisters: Edith (Hisao) Iwami of Honolulu and Amelia Uyehara of California; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 6, at Kahuna Springs, 1750 Ahiahi Road, Kapa’a officiated by Pastor Ed Terui. Burial will be private.
The family suggests casual attire and requests that flowers be omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
