Detectives working the missing-person case of Monique Otani, 25, were pleasantly surprised when they stopped by her Kapa’a home Monday afternoon, and she came home.
After failing to arrive at a friend’s Kalaheo home Sunday, and failing to return home Sunday night, her boyfriend reported her missing Monday to the Kauai Police Department.
Otani had been last seen on Sunday morning, when she planned to ride her bicycle to a friend’s home in Kalaheo, to help her clean the house, according to police.
She never arrived at the Kalaheo home, and until Monday hadn’t returned home. Since she was alone on a bicycle, police were worried Otani may have met with an accident or foul play, police said.
Police had asked for the public’s assistance for any information in this case, which was closed with Otani returning home safely and unharmed, and wanted to thank the public for assistance in this case.
The KPD is still asking for the public’s assistance with any information regarding the murder investigation into the death of Walter Robert “Fig” Mitchell, last Monday, June 10, at his Kapa’a home.
Those with information may call Kaleo Perez, 241-6747, KPD dispatch, 241-6711, or Crime Stoppers, 241-6787.
