The body of William Robert “Fig” Mitchell II, 60, of Kapa’a, was found by Kaua’i police officers Monday afternoon in his Wailua residence, after his neighbor requested police assistance.
The cause of Mitchell’s death is unknown, and an autopsy is pending, according to the Kaua’i Police Department.
Mitchell was a former sports editor of the Kaua’i Times and a sports announcer for KUAI radio, later moving to KQNG radio in the early 1990s. He also helped to organize women’s softball leagues, worked as a sports announcer and radio broadcaster and was also a coach and umpire.
