IS IT FOR REAL? Was just one of the questions posed by Cub Scouts who viewed the partial solar eclipse at about 2:40 p.m. Monday with the aid of a piece of black film being held by Cub Scout leader Vianne Tabata at the Cub Day Camp being held at Lydgate Park on Monday. About 70 Cubs attending the camp got to view the event, including several parents who got their first view of the astronomical event. Viewing through a piece of fully exposed black film is one of a handful of ways to safely view a solar eclipse, according to instructions in “Totality – Eclipses of the Sun” from the University of Hawai’i Press.
