Robert Goias of Hanama’ulu, Kaua’i, died at his home on June 6, 2002, at the age of 72.
Born in Lihu’e, Kaua’i on June 1, 1930, he was a retired stevedore with Interstate Motor Lines Freight.
He is survived by his wife, Phylis H. Goias of Wailua, Kauai; two daughters, Robert-Ann Kauailani (Jason Medeiros) Goias and Deborah Ehulani Kaiu both of Wailua, Kaua’i; three grandchildren, Josiah Kealiikuikalani Kaiu, Wehilani Medeiros Goias and Ehukai Medeiros Goias all of Wailua, Kaua’i; brother, Henry T. (Eleanor) Goias of Sacramento, CA; sister-in-law: Tina (John) Goias of San Francisco, CA; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit the family at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 12, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; Mass officiated by Father Keahi will begin at 10 a.m. Aloha attire is suggested.

Chiyoko Kira of ‘Ele’ele, Kaua’i, died on June 3, 2002, at Straub Clinic and Hospital, at the age of 84.
She was born in Kilauea, Kaua’i, on Nov. 6, 1917.
She is survived by her husband: Katsuyuki Kira of ‘Ele’ele; son: Dennis (Sally) Kira of Valencia, California; daughter: Ann (Noel) Miyamoto of Kalaheo, Kaua’i; brother: George (Isako) Ito of Honolulu; sisters: Tomoe (James) Saiki of Hawthorne, California; Doris (Hidemi) Miyasaki of Honokaa, Hawaii; 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, June 9, at 4 p.m. at Kauai Soto Zen Temple in Hanapepe. Aloha attire is suggested. Flowers omitted.

Baltazar Laborte
Baltazar Torculas Laborte of San Francisco, Calif., and Kaua’i, died June 1, 2002, at San Francisco General Hospital at the age of 37.
A tow truck driver for Broadway Tow Company in California, he was born Jan. 6, 1965, in Antequera Bohol, Philippines.
He is survived by his parents: Pablo and Rafaela Laborte of Lawai; one sister: Argea (Andy) Yasao of Wailua; brothers: Romulo Laborte and Tony Laborte, both of Lawai and James (Kristine) Laborte of San Diego, Calif., grandmother: Cipriana Polares of California; four nephews; numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
Family and friends may call on Sunday, June 9, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 6 pm. to 9 p.m. and again on Monday, June 10, at St. Raphael’s Church in Koloa from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. where services will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Raphael’s Church Cemetery.
