Durante paced the Waimea B & G 26-17 victory over the Kilauea Hui in the second game of the Girls 12-under season opener at Kalaheo, posting 16 points.
Breaking a first quarter stalemate, Durante exploded for 7 of the Waimea B&G’s 9 points to outdistance the Hui. The firestorm continued as Durante notched another 5 points in the third stanza enroute to the Waimea win that came despite a concerted defensive effort by Kilauea spearheaded by Caroline Troutman.
Waimea’s Josey Jacinto had 4 points and Kolonahe Arquette, Natalie Mata, and Brytney Lanning each contributing a pair.
Troutman paced the Kilauea scoring with 6 points followed by Kapua Chandler and April Johnson each notching four points. Kieren Pond closed the book with a trio.
With Brittney Carvalho and Mari Punzal leading the charge, the Lokahi Girls controlled the Kaua’i Fire Protection 27-9 with Carvalho notching 14 points as the go-to person underneath.
Punzal followed with 7 markers, Hanalei Gomes added 4, and Kela Caspillo and Sarah Lindsey each added a digit.
Rapozo-DelaCruz and Jaselle Balilea each added a pair for Lihu’e.
In the final game of the night, the Westside Hornets topped the Kapa’a Ladybugs 25-9. Brytney Yadao had 10 points for the Hornets; Mailika Napoleon scored four for the Ladybugs
