Kauai Memorial Gardens, a cemetery operation on Ma’alo Road on the way to Wailua Falls, has plans to expand its operations at the site, and continues giving back to the community through annual random drawings and other promotions.
In the past, owner Roberta Simpkins has given away trips to Las Vegas as well as cash prizes via drawings from entries from Kauaians signing up for the chance to win at the company’s commercial booth at the Kauai County Farm Bureau Fair (this year’s event is Labor Day weekend).
Cash prizes will again be given away this year, she said. The 2001 winners (drawn near the end of last year) needed only to make appointments to see Simpkins at her Kapaia office, listen as she explained the various products and services Kauai Memorial Gardens has to offer, and then smile for the camera as they happily accepted their winnings.
The cash in the case of all but one of the winners came in time for last-minute Christmas shopping. The first-prize winner was Kenneth Cummings, who won $800. Albertina Visitacion won $600, Alfonso Afos won $400, and Angelina Koli won $200.
In addition, thank-you gifts were given to some of the hundreds of people who took time to visit the booth and enter the contest. Simpkins invites anyone interested to visit the office, 4590 Ma’alo Rd., or call 245-3661, to get information on the latest promotional prize package.
