Robert Ozaki
Robert Toshiro Ozaki of Hanapepe, Kauai, died at Rochester, Minnesota on May 5, 2002 at the age of 87.
Born in Hanapepe, Kauai on May 19, 1914, he was the founder of Robert’s and Robert’s Jewelry.
He is survived by his wife, Yukie Ueoka Ozaki of Hanapepe, Kauai; son, Milton Robert (Patricia) Ozaki of Kalaheo, Kauai; daughters, Marian Yukie (Richard) Conroy and Joyce Toshie (Alan) Tomonari, both of Honolulu, O’ahu; three grandchildren; brother, George Goro Ozaki of Lihu’e, Kaua’i; two sisters, Dorothy Shizue Matsushige of Lihu’e, Kaua’i and Florence Fujiko Nakayama of Hanapepe, Kaua’i; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service officiated by Pastor Mitchell Young will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, at the Hanapepe United Church of Christ.
The family suggests casual attire and that flowers be omitted.
Celerina Salvador
Celerina Tumaneng Salvador of Hanama’ulu, Kaua’i, died May 2, 2002, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 87.
A homemaker, she was born Jan. 30, 1915, and raised in Laoag Ilocos Norte, Philippines. She arrived in Hawai’i in 1990 and has resided in Hanama’ulu since.
She is survived by her husband Candido Salvador of Hanama’ulu; two sons: Filemon Salvador of Hanama’ulu and Rodrigo (Gloria) Salvador of the Philippines; one daughter: Felicidad (Fely) Odoya of Hanama’ulu; two grandsons: Robert Odoya of Hanama’ulu and Rodrigo (Mary Joy) Salvador, Jr. of California; and two granddaughters: Marites (Richard) Picart of California and Miriam (Salde) Ramos of the Philippines; and five great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday, May 14, at Immaculate Conception Church from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. where services will be celebrated at 11 a.m. by Father Keahi. Burial to follow at Kaua’i Memorial Gardens.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary.
Donald Johnson
Donald Hugh “Uncle Don” Johnson died at his home in Wailua Houselots, Kaua’i, on May 1, 2002, at the age of 83.
He is survived by his wife Leona and daughters, Pat Keosheyan of Texas and Kathy Astrahatseff of Germany; three grandchildren, Alley, Krista, and Rob Keosheyan; two great-grandchildren, Philippa and Connor Keosheyan and many close friends and extended family on Kauai.
Born on Jan. 11, 1919 in Pigeon, Michigan, he served in the Army Air Corps as a B-29 pilot flying in the Pacific Sector during WW II, and later became an instructor at an aerobatic flying school. His love for automobiles became an invaluable asset in influencing his many years of service as a full size clay model car designer and sculptor for General Motors, Chrysler and Volvo.
Memorial service will be held at the Wailua River mouth Lydgate park at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 11, for all who want to share their warm farewell and aloha. Aloha attire requested.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Antone Parraga
Antone Parraga Jr. of Kekaha, Kauai, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on May 5, 2002, at the age of 70.
Born in Makaweli, Kauai on Dec. 25, 1932, he was a Maintenance Supervisor with Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by his companion, Carnation Harris, and her children, Raynette (Stuart) Saito of O’ahu, Shane Buesil, Anthony “Ants” (Mel Sukisaki) Harris and Shawn “Kimo” (Jessica Natividad) Parraga, all of Kekaha; Betty B. Parraga and her children: Antonette Parraga of Kalaheo, Tina (Larry) Yadao of Waimea, Anthony “Bully”(Deborah) Parraga of Kekaha, Trinette (Wesley) Kaui of Wailua and Elise (Corey) Silva of Kalaheo; 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Isabel “Bella” (John) Martin of O’ahu and Emily Silva of Kalaheo.
Friends may visit with the family at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, at the St. Theresa Catholic Church-Kekaha; service officiated by Father Keahi will begin at 11 a.m. followed by burial at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe. Casual attire is suggested.
