It’s time to report the past week’s community basketball action, as the 16-Under and Men’s Open leagues press on at Kalaheo NC Gymnasium.
On April 25, Kalaheo saw Kaumakani, Hot Sauce and Hanapepe clean house on the basketball court.
Jordon Dizon’s 13 points led Kaumakani to a 59-33 win over the Five O’s. Lance Okasaki, Kaleo Perez and Preston Velmoja each scored eight for the Five O’s.
Futi Tavana put up 15 points to lead Hot Sauce to a 66-32 win over Kapa’a. Kaylen Dolor scored 12 points for Kapa’a.
And in the final game of the day, Lanikai Kanahele scored 13 points to lead Hanapepe to a 62-35 drubbing of the Lihue Sholtz. John Penn and Brandon Ballesteros each scored 11 points for the Scholtz.
In 16-under action on April 27, Hot Sauce won once, lost once and the Lihue Lee topped Waimea to round up the action at Kalaheo.
Hot Sauce topped the Lihue Sholtz 63-28 behind 20 Tavana points. Kalau Hammond scored 10 points for the Scholtz.
But Tavana’s 16 points in the third game was not enough to top Kaumakani, who topped Hot Sauce 59-48. Dizon scored 23 points for Kaumakani.
And in the other game, Warren Lee scored 15 points to lead the Lihue Lee to a 51-34 victory over Waimea. Justin Estes scored 14 points for Waimea.
In Men’s Open action on April 28, Second Two None, Puhi Paint and Nuff Said each pulled out wins at Kalaheo.
Second Two None was led by Terry Gonsalves’ 17 points in its 64-511 win over the Kaua’i Freight. Sherwin Sagucio and Desmond Moniz each scored 14 points for the Freight.
In the second game, Chris Acoba scored 16 points to lead the Puhi Pain to a 53-44 victory over Matais. Kelii Brandmann scored 18 points for Matais.
And in the final game, Nuff Said’s Allen Caluman scored 12 points to lead his team to a 47-43 win over the Soul-Jahs. Matt Buchak scored 12 points for the Soul-Jahs.
