The Kapa’a tennis team took three matches in the boys and four in the girls to top Menehunes in Saturday’s KIF match-up in Waimea.
For the boys first singles, Justin Nagai was forced to cut the game short against Menehune Jerrick Fabro due to injury. Nagai was leading 6-4, 5-5 when the match ended.
In the girls first singles, Taryn Honma fell to Warrior Serina Roush 5-7, 2-6.
For boys second singles, Kia Tom topped Waimea’s Jeffrey Kakuda 6-3, 6-2. Waimea’s Jennifer Tambio beat Ashley Tunac 6-3,6-1 in girls second singles.
The Scott Rivera/Cyrus Tumbaga duo topped Kyle Mahoney and Andrew Walpole 7-5,6-4 in boys first doubles; Heather Medina and Karen Sison fell to Shantelle De Mille and Tiana Laranio 1-6,6-7(5) in girls first doubles.
Warriors Tommy Yoshida and Garrett Danner beat Daniel Nishikawa and Jerek Barcelona 6-1, 6-1 in second doubles action. For girls second doubles, Tracie Hayashi and Beverly Mangayayam fell to Tasha Haraguchi and Raysha Sadang 6-4,0-6,4-6 .
In third doubles, Kapa’a’s Stephen Esaki and Cory Napoleon won by default, and for girls, Ashley Valvieja and Nicollette Cuaresma beat Reiko Ayabe and Ciera Sherman 6-2, 7-6 (9)
