William Ebinger
William “Gary” Ebinger III of Hanama’ulu, died on April 12, 2002, at the age of 65.
Born in Hanama’ulu, on Jan. 27, 1937. He was a retired Auto Body Repairman with the Public Works Department of the County of Kaua’i. Upon retirement from the County he found that he had too much time on his hands and decided to work part time for Alamo Car Rental until 1999.
He is preceded in death by his wife”: Tina “Tinay” Ebinger. He is survived by their two daughters: Laurie (Clay, Jr.) Kelekoma and Suzanne Ebinger both of Hanama’ulu. They also have two grandsons: Preston Gary Ebinger and Clay “Keoni” Kelekoma III. He has one brother, Richard (Barbara) Ebinger of Wailua Homesteads.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, April 18, 6-9 p.m. at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa. Rosary at 7 p.m. And again on Friday, April 19, at Immaculate Conception Church in Kapaia from 9 a.m. Mass to be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Kaua’i Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua’i Mortuary.
Howard Kenerson
Howard L. Kenerson of Koloa, Kaua’i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, on April 9, 2002 at the age of 84.
Born in Haverhill, MA, on September 17, 1917, he was a Veteran of WWII and a Retired Layout operator for Western Electric/AT&T.
He is survived by his wife: Sylvia Kenerson of Koloa; five daughters: Sonja (Francis) Kealoha of Lawai; Barbara Whittier of Koloa; Patricia DiBartolomeo of Koloa; Carol (Dennis) Claussen of Po’ipu; Audrey Moulton of ‘Ele’ele; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the famiy on April 21, 2002, noon – 4 p.m. at the Family home 2460 Kipuka Street. Private burial with family will be held. Family suggests that flowers be omitted and donations in his name to: Disabled American Veterans-Kaua’i, Chapter 5. 3215 Kapule, Hwy., Lihue, HI 96766.
Ronald Pereza
Ronald J. Pereza of Kalaheo died in San Mateo California on March 18, 2002 at the age of 53.
Born in Honolulu on August 27, 1948, he worked in guest services at the Po’ipu Bay Golf Course.
He is survived by two daughters, Sarah and Rachel Pereza of San Mateo California, Mary Monroe-Pereza of San Mateo California, father Raymond Pereza of Kailua, O’ahu & mother Sarah Pereza of Kane’ohe, O’ahu. Four brothers: Eric (Dana) Pereza of Colorado, Tommy (Caroline) Pereza of Puhi, Kaua’i; Miles (Gina) Pereza of Kalaheo, Kaua’i; James (Kahana) Pereza of Puhi, Kaua’i. Four sisters: Blanche (Alan) Cofran of Kailua O’ahu; Louise (Steve) Young of Florida; Melissa (Darrel) Shelton of Honolulu and Laura Mortrud of Waimanalo, O’ahu.
Friends with gather in his memory on Sunday, April 21, 2002 at Kukui’ula Harbor in Po’ipu at 4 p.m. for scattering of ashes. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the American Cancer Society or a trust account for his daughters Sarah and Rachel Pereza at First Hawaiian Bank.
Harutsuna Shibao
Harutsuna Shibao of Kapa’a, Kaua’i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on April 15, 2002 at the age of 92.
Born in Wahiawa, Kaua’i on Sept. 25, 1909, he was a Land Surveyor with the County of Kaua’i.
He is survived by wife, Shizue of Kapa’a, Kaua’i; two sons, Lincoln (Mary) Shibao of Mililani Town, O’ahu and Gordon (Shirley) Shibao of Kapa’a, Kaua’i; daughter, Susan (Bob) Allen of Port Orchard, WA; three sisters, Shimayo Kumeda of Kumamoto, Japan, Hachime Fujimura of Honolulu, O’ahu and Mutsue Chiagi of Honolulu, O’ahu; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 3 p.m. at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel on Saturday, April 20, service officiated by Rev. Kosho Itagaki will begin at 4 p.m. Casual attire is suggested.

Kathryn Aka
Kathryn Linda Aiona Aka of Wahiawa, Hawai’i and formerly of Kaua’i, died April 10, 2002, at the age of 61.
A homemaker, she was born on Kaua’i.
She is survived by her husband: Albert K. Aiona Aka; son: Albert K. Aiona Aka; daughter: Alicia L. Aiona Aka; mother: Alice Aguiar, brother: Gordon Aguiar, and sister: Ann Wright; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Memorial service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, at the Mililani Assembly Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses – WECP Meeting Room 4, Mililani, HI.
Aloha attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Mililani Mortuary.
