Kelvin Bloom completed Saturday week one as president of Aston Hotels & Resorts, a ResortQuest International company with a substantial management presence on Kaua’i.
The Hanalei Bay Resort, Aston Islander on the Beach, Aston Kauai Beach Villas, Aston Kaha Lani, Aston Poipu Kai and Waimea Plantation Cottages are all Kaua’i properties managed by Aston.
Bloom spent much of his 20-year Hawai’i hospitality career on Kaua’i as well, as general manager of Kiahuna Plantation from 1985 to 1989, and later as vice president of Village Resorts’ Hawai’i region with supervisory duties over resorts including Kiahuna, Whalers Cove, Islander on the Beach and The Cliffs at Princeville.
He also spent some time at Hanalei Bay Resort.
“Kelvin’s determination and tenacity along with his business acumen have been strong assets for Aston and ResortQuest since he joined the company in 1998,” said David Levine, chairman, president and chief executive officer of ResortQuest International, Inc., parent company of Aston Hotels & Resorts.
Most recently Aston’s executive vice president and chief operating officer, Bloom’s primary responsibilities as president include overseeing all departments and aspects of the company, including business development and owner relations.
He will also continue to serve as regional vice president for ResortQuest International, Inc. His duties in that position include overseeing Aston’s 34 Hawai’i properties and the ResortQuest Maui Condominium & Home.
“ResortQuest International has invested in excess of $50 million in acquiring Aston Hotels & Resorts and Maui Condominium & Home,” said Bloom. “The foundation of Aston Hotels & Resorts has always been centered around our employees.
“We have a deep commitment to Hawai’i and, in particular, our team of outstanding Aston employees,” said Bloom.
Born in California and raised in Japan, Iran and other countries, Bloom has lived in Hawai’i over 20 years, and has 25 years of hotel and condominium resort management experience from a wide range of properties.
Before joining Aston, he was founding president of Castle Resorts & Hotels, and chief operating officer of The Castle Group. He conceived, created and developed Castle Resorts & Hotels, and had a significant role in the development and growth of The Castle Group.
On Kaua’i, Castle manages Kiahuna Plantation & The Beach Bungalows, Poipu Shores, Makahuena at Poipu, and Lanikai Resort.
Bloom received the bulk of his training in the hotel and condominium resort industry during his 15 years with Village Resorts, including six years as vice president in charge of the Hawai’i region.
During that time, he was instrumental in the development and growth of Village Resorts in and out of Hawai’i.
A member of the board of directors of the Aloha United Way, Bloom is also on the board of the Waikiki Improvement Association, Hawaii Hotel Association and several condominium associations.
He is also an avid University of Hawaii sports fan.
