Vivian Snyder of Princeville, Kaua’i, died March 21, 2002, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 72.
A registered nurse, she was born Oct. 19, 1929, in Illinois.
She is survived by her husband; Elmer Snyder of Princeville; three sons: Matt (Amy) Snyder of Washington, Mark (Patty) Snyder of Washington and Michael (Jeanne) Snyder of Illinois; one daughter; Mary Beth (Tracy) Cross of Illinois; one sister: Marlene Bouch of Illinois; eight grandchildren; numerous nieces, and nephews.
Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday March 26, at St. Sylvester’s Church in Kilauea from 9 a.m. with Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to St. Catherine’s Church Adopt A Student Program.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary.
Rufino Alayvilla
Rufino “Pinong” Alayvilla of Hanama’ulu, Kaua’i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on March 13, 2002, at the age of 89.
A retired irrigator for Lihu’e Plantation, he was born in San Juan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, on Nov. 16, 1912.
He is preceded in death by his wife Juliana Valvieja Alayvilla and sons Orencio and Wayne. He is survived by six sons: Ben (Norma) of Hanama’ulu; Ray (Catherine) of Nevada; Angel (Monica Louis) of California; Domi (Carol) of Hanama’ulu; David of Hanama’ulu and Wilfred (Sandy) of Wailua; six daughters: Teresita (Revelino, Sr.) Tacsiat of Kapa’a; Remy (Edward) Chinen of Kalaheo; Lolita (Russell, Sr.) Fernandes of Lihu’e; Priscilla (Mike) Kano of Hanama’ulu; Nancy (Joe) Fontanilla of Lawai and Josie (Serafin, Jr.) Galvez of Puhi; one sister Rita Villon of Hanama’ulu; one brother Ernesto of Puhi; 23 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Wake service is scheduled for Monday, March 25, at Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary Chapel, Koloa from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, March 26, at Immaculate Conception Church, Kapaia with visitation for 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. and Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. by Father Paul. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens, Kapaia. Casual or aloha attire is suggested.
