A proposal by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service to designated 99,000 acres on Kaua’i and Ni’ihau as “critical habitat” for rare native plants is being questioned by residents of the two islands. Representatives of the state Department of Land and Natural Resources, which has offered an alternative plan, and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service have both been asked to send representatives to the meeting to answer questions.
The “talk story” meeting is set for Thursday, March 28 at the Hanapepe Neighborhood Center from 7 to 9 p.m. The public is invited to attend.For more information, please call 332-8751.
