Another KIF Tennis Saturday had Kaua’i sweeping the official matches at Waimea High School, sending their record to an undefeated run for the 2002 season.
Jordan Kukino defeated Jerrick Fabro 6-0, 6-0 in the first singles match; Karen Sison fell to Kareen Konishi 0-6, 0-6 in the girls first singles.
Tiana Lum-Tucker topped Heather Medina 6-1, 6-0 in the second girls singles; Chris Colacino beat Jeffrey Kakuda 6-1, 6-1 in the second boys singles.
In first doubles, Cyras Tumbaga and Scott Rivera fought through three sets, but fell to Chad Naganuma and Joshua Miyamoto 4-6, 7-5, 2-6. The same was true in the first doubles for girls, but Kaua’i’s team still came out on top, as Alex Sirois and Rena Kido defeated Taryn Honma and Tracie Hayashi 5-7, 6-2, 6-1.
In second doubles, Jennifer Tambio and Sara Nonaka fell to Red Raiders Hokulani Jordan and Jennifer Kawaguch 1-6, 3-6. Ronald Hosaka and Ian White topped Warriors Jerek Barcelona and Daniel Nishikawa 6-1, 6-2.
In third doubles, Ivie Fujimura and Mitzi Soto fell to Lianne Williams and Kim Kido 0-6, 1-6. Raiders Stephen McClaran and Michael Hirahara topped Steven Fountain and Desmond Rodrigues 6-1, 6-1.
For the unofficial matches for boys, Jerek Fabro and Cyrus Tumbaga fell to Raiders Kurt Teichman and Bryce Hosaka 4-8. Jeffry Kakuda and Daniel Nishikawa fell to Tyler Carvalho and Eric Fujikawa 1-8. Tyler Inouye and James Odan beat Peterson DelaCruz and Scott Rivera 8-7, and Talon Abat and Desmond Rodrigues beat Grant Teichman and Dylan Peckenpaugh 8-2.
In unofficial matches for girls, Reiko Ayabe amd Cieralyne Sherman fell to Shannon Bulloch and Elise Miyamoto 4-8. Kellie Torigoe and Jaymee Wakumoto beat Amanda Gation and Ashley Shimono 8-6.
