Veronica Ann Ashford of Lihu’e, Kaua’i, died March 7, 2002, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 48.
A self-employed crafter, she was born Nov. 3, 1953, in California.
She is survived by one sister: Cindy (Gregg) Ferguson of California; three brothers: Anthony Ashford, Oscar (Holly) Ashford and Christopher (Michelle) Ashford, all of California; several nephews and cousins.
A memorial service for Veronica will be held on Saturday, March 16, in Kokee State Park. Friends are asked to meet by the Lodge at 10 a.m.

Goldie Kahale
Goldie Mae Kahale of Kekaha died at home on March 12, 2002, at the age of 61, after a long battle with cancer.
A homemaker, she was born Dec. 19, 1940, in Hanapepe, Kaua’i.
She is survived by her husband, Henry Kahale of Kekaha; three sons: Cy (Rachel) Akana of Fort Campbell, TN, Chase (Naomi) Akana of ‘Ele’ele, Kaua’i, and Cale (Renee) Akana of Kekaha, Kaua’i; three grandchildren; her mother, May Corr; three brothers: Charles (Jean) Corr of Deer Park, Texas, Richard Corr of Hanapepe, Kaua’i, John (Sandy) Corr of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Wilfred (Patricia) Kualii of Puhi, Kaua’i; three sisters: Barbara Velasquez of Brigham City, Utah, Colleen (Lawrence) Okamoto of Kekaha and Aletha Matsusaka of Waimea.
Friends may visit with the family at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, with services at 11 a.m. at Kekaha LDS Church, officiated by Bishop Erwin Wright.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
William Kekua
William Keau “Bill” Kekua, 62, of Waipahu, died Feb. 27, 2002 at the St. Francis Medical Center West.
He was a retired mechanic, and born in Honolulu.
He is survived by son: Kimo Kekua of Hilo; daughter: Maile (Jerry) Kekua-Haliniak of Waipahu; grandchildren, Kalewa and Kamalani; sister: Lady Kaipuwai Kekua of Anahola, Kaua’i.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, March 16, 10 a.m. at Ka Hale Hoano Hou o Ke Akua, 1760 Nalani St., Honolulu. Service at 11 a.m., cremation to follow.

David Kaalakea, Jr.
David Kaanohi Kaalakea, Jr., of Honolulu, died at Kaiser Hospital, on March 1, 2002, at the age of 58.
Born in Kipahulu, Maui, on Feb. 26, 1944, He was a retired employee with the Dept. of Transportation.
He is survived by his wife: Dawn of Honolulu; sons: Danny of Honolulu and David (Bell) of Wailuku, Maui; daughters: Miala “Tita” (Tim) Summers of Wailuku, Maui, Deborah (Faasisina) Moeone of Honolulu and Jarrae Puni of Kapa’a, Kaua’i; brother: Ronnie (Shirley) Kaalakea of Kiheu, Maui; sisters: Geraldine Edlao of Wailuku, Maui; Lei Garcia of Pukalani, Maui; and Noe Kenolio of Kiheu, Maui; hanai sons: Kalani Kenolio of Kihei, Maui; and Kalei (Samantha) Kenolio of Pukalani, Maui; hanai daughter: Kanoe Kenolio of Kiheu, Maui; Janai (Curtis) Kealoha of Kihei, Maui; hanai mother: Yvonne Kanae, of Wailuku, Maui; hanai brothers: Henry “Boy”, Clayton, Clarence, Glenn, Garrick and Nathan Kanae of all Wailuku, Maui, and 11 grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, March 15, at Borthwick Mortuary-Honolulu from 6 p.m. Service at 7 p.m. then again on Saturday, March 16, from 9 a.m. Service at 11:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery at 1 p.m. Aloha Attire is suggested.
