A state senate committee is coming to Lihu’e on Friday to listen to opinions from the public on the proposed merger between Aloha and Hawaiian airlines.
The committee will hold a briefing and focus on implications for consumers and businesses in Hawai’i.
The Senate Committee on Transportation, Military Affairs, and Government Operations, chaired by Senator Cal Kawamoto will be at the Kaua’i County Council Chambers in the historic Kaua’i County Building on Rice Street on Friday March 8. The briefing is scheduled to run from 6 to 8 p.m.
State Sen. Ron Menor, chair of the Hawai’i State Senate Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection and Housing said: “Neighbor Island residents will be affected most by any changes in the number of flights and increases in inter-island air fares and air cargo rates. Because the potential economic impact from changes in these would be felt more by those living outside of O’ahu, we want them to share with us any concerns they have or proposals to avoid potential negative outcomes.”
