Murae Inouye
Murae Murao Inouye, of Lihu’e, Kaua’i, died at Queen’s Medical Center, on Feb. 27, 2002, at the age of 81.
Born on June 20, 1920, in Lihu’e, Kaua’i, she was a retired library assistant with the State of Hawai’i.
She is survived by her son: Bruce Inouye and daughter: Grace Inouye.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, March 8, at the Lihu’e Hongwanji Mission from 4-5 p.m. Service to begin at 5 p.m.

Sophie Rita
Sophie Ferreira Rita of Kalaheo, Kaua’i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, on Feb. 28, 2002, at the age of 77.
Born in Hanama’ulu, Kaua’i, on Oct. 8, 1924, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by two sons: Gregory (Amy) Rita of Kalaheo; Lloyd (Francella) Rita of Kalaheo; one daughter: Lois (Vincent) Palacio of Kalaheo; two sisters: Adeline Rosea of Maui; Roseline (George) Bettencourt of Hanama’ulu; one brother: Alfred (Yoshie) Ferreira of O’ahu, 3 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, March 6, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. where services will be celebrated at 10 a.m. by Father Keahi. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Church Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.

John ‘Sonny’ Kia
John Naholoholo “Sonny” Kia of Wailuku, Maui, died Feb. 28, 2002, at Queen’s Medical Center, at the age of 80.
Born on June 7, 1921 at Hanapepe, Kaua’i, he was a retired boilermaker.
He is survived by sons: Clyde (Makana) of Kaua’i and Major Sheldon Cockett of Maui; daughters: Caroline (Frank Jr.,) Carineo of Kaua’i and Linda (Valencio) Vea of Kaua’i; 24 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; god children, Nalani Chun of Maui, and Michael J. Sacapanio of California; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, March 8, at Borthwick Mortuary (Honolulu) from 6-9 p.m. Service at 7 p.m. And again, on Saturday, March 9. Visitation at Borthwick Mortuary (Honolulu) from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Service at 11 a.m. Family request aloha attire. Burial at Sunset Cemetery at 1 p.m.
