Tennis news
The Ala Lani Spa and Tennis Club (at the Kaua’i Lagoons resort) and the Kaua’i District of the Hawaii Pacific United States Tennis Association, hosted a tennis Fun Day on Sunday, January 13.
One hundred players from around the island gathered for a day of tennis at the newly opened tennis club.
Eric Lutz, Kaua’i’s National Tennis Rating Program Representative, and Tom Roerk, Head NRTP Verifier from Honolulu, held a rating clinic for 20 people to prepare for the 50+ and Mixed Tennis Leagues beginning in February.

Hole-in-one at Puakea
Lloyd Tamashiro of Kula Road in Kapa’a used an 8-wedge to hit a hole-in-one on the eighth hole at Puakea Golf Course last week.
He hit a shot 130 yards from the pin that landed smack-dad in the cup on the par-three hole at Puakea.
Calvin Tamaye was witness to this remarkable feat.
Kaua’i’s Off Road Riders
Kaua’i’s Off Road Riders, a non-profit organization, will be holding an off-motorcycle Poker Run event on Sunday, February 17, at Camp 1 Bay in Port Allen.
Registration starts at 9 a.m. The event will start at 10 a.m.
There will be classes for all riders, and participants should bring one gas container.

Starlings Volleyball
The Boys and Girls Club of Hawaii – Kapa’a Clubhouse – will be starting registration for the Starlings Volleyball Leagues beginning Friday, January 26, and ending Tuesday, February 5.
The leagues are for kids ages 9-16. Registration forms are available at the Boys and Girls Clubhouses in Kapa’a.
