An Internal Revenue Service employee will be at the State Building from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Friday, Feb. 1, to provide personal assistance with federal tax issues. The person-to-person services taxpayers find at an IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center will be available to Kaua’i taxpayers this Friday and the first Friday of every month this year, except July, thanks to a coalition between the IRS, the governor’s liaison on Kaua’i, and the state Department of Taxation.
Services available include answers to tax questions, help with correspondence and bills from the IRS, assistance setting up installment plans, and help resolving federal tax issues. “Many people find it easier to ask questions and talk about their tax situations in person, rather than on the telephone or by mail. Now this opportunity is available to Kaua’i taxpayers,” said Shawn George, IRS spokesperson.
