Glenn Hontz has been named acting director of the Hawai’i Small Business Development Center Network office (SBDC) at Kaua’i Community College, until a permanent replacement can be found for J. Randy Gingras.
Gingras left the center to join the Hawai’i Community Loan Fund (KCLF) as a consultant.
In a letter to clients and stakeholders, SBDC state director Darryl Mleynek said the hiring process is underway to find a permanent replacement for Gingras, and a public announcement of the open position will happen soon.
“The Kaua’i center director position will be filled as soon as a qualified individual is found,” he said.
In the meantime, the office remains open, and Mleynek had high praise for Clara Oligo, the office administrative assistant.
She is “among the best in our organization, and she will continue to see that client service needs are fulfilled,” he said.
Consulting services will be provided by outside consultants and resources available within the Hawai’i SBDC Network until the center director’s position is filled.
“Over the last several years, Randy has been a very important participant in nurturing HCLF through its critical infancy years,” Mleynek said.
“As a community loan fund that services high-risk and sometimes ‘un-bankable’ borrowers, the Hawai’i SBDC Network has actively supported his efforts to grow this important lending resource for the community,” he continued.
The purpose of his letter, besides announcing the transition, was to thank clients and stakeholders for their past and ongoing support, “and to assure you that our commitment to the Kaua’i community and its ongoing economic growth remains very strong,” he said.
