Kyono is currently attending Pepperdine on a golf scholarship.
– Waimea beats Castle at Vidinha Stadium-In front of hundreds of Menehune fans at Vidinha Stadium on Friday, November 17, Waimea stormed the Castle, beating the Knights 41-20 in one of the most memorable games in Kaua’i football history.
The Menehunes amassed an unheard of 437 yards in the game, only 28 of those in the air and 409 on the ground. This was enough to take a trip to the HHSAA semifinals in Honolulu, where they fell to 2001 State Champion Kahuku.

But Woods wouldn’t surprise anyone. Like always, he played his best holes at the tail end of the bottom nine, scoring a 12-under 132, breaking Ernie Els’ course record set in 1997.
– Kaua’i’s surfers some of the best in 2002 – Kaua’i surfers continue to be some of the best in the world. This year, the young generation of Kauai-raised surfers Andy and Bruce Irons of Hanalei, who won and placed high in world-level surf competitions in Hawaii, acheived World Class rankings became major international surf stars.
Braden Diaz made his marke this year, and the South Shore’s Rochelle Ballard was named the number one women’s surfer in the world in Surfer magazine’s annual poll.
Keala Kennelly of Hanalei gained a reputation for leading the big wave charger in women’s surfing, and Titus Kinimaka continued in his mid-40s as a stellar big wave rider.
