The Kaua’i County Police Department has promoted Gordon Isoda to assistant chief.
Isoda, 48, most recently the administrative lieutenant for the patrol services division, is a 17-year veteran of the department. He also has served in the patrol, detectives and traffic safety units.
In his new role, he replaces Melvin Morris as head of the investigative services bureau. Morris retired Nov. 30.
Isoda is one of three assistant chiefs (formerly chief inspectors). Alvin Yoshida heads the administrative and technical bureau, and Clayton Arinaga heads patrol services.
Isoda was born in Koloa. Before returning to Kaua’i after graduating from Whitworth College in Spokane, Wash., Isoda was an officer with the Bellevue (Wash.) Police.
