TGI STAFF –
Nelson Gabriel, a Kaua’i County Police officer on restricted duty while awaiting a verdict from a Fifth Circuit Court trial last month on sexual assault charges against him, must wait until later this month to be arraigned on new, unrelated charges.
Gabriel was in District Court Tuesday, accused of six counts of harassment and a stalking charge, all misdemeanors. They stem from a complaint against him by a fellow police dispatcher, a female.
Gabriel’s attorney, Michael Green of Oahu, was unavailable, so Judge Trudy Senda postponed the arraignment until Nov. 27.
Gabriel remains free on his own recognizance.
In other cases:
– Fifth Circuit Court Judge Clifford Nakea set a trial date of Dec. 10 for Ronald Finney, who is charged with burglary, theft and criminal property damage. He also is charged with escape after running from Kaua’i County Police officers in August and fleeing to Virginia, where he was apprehended last month after a tip to Crimestoppers.
Finney is in the Kaua’i Community Correctional Center.
