Ceferino “Cefrin” Melchor Ballesteros of Lihu’e, died at his home on Oct. 8, 2001, at the age of 56.
Born on Aug. 26, 1945, in Laoag City, Philippines, he was a gardener at the National Tropical Botanical Gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Cristina Ballesteros of Lihu’e, two children, Jane (Greg) Cubangbang and Joseph (Carol) Ballesteros of Lihu’e; two grandchildren, Ian and Jaffia, parents, Antonio and Lorenza Ballesteros of the Philippines; three sisters, Clarita (Nerlito) Balicoco of the Philipppines, Ellen Ballesteros of Hanama’ulu, and Tina (Lito) Ruiz of Hanama’ulu; and two brothers, Luciano (Lourdes) Ballesteros and Virgilio (Ailyn) Ballesteros, both of the Philippines.
Wake services will be held at the Garden Island Mortuary on Thursday, Oct. 25, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and funeral services will be at Immaculate Conception Church on Oct. 26, at 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Lihu’e Public Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Alipia Pascua
Alipia Ratonoel Pascua of Oma’o, Kaua’i, died at her residence on Oct. 17, 2001 at the age of 101.
Born in the Philippines, on May 15, 1900, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her three sons: George (Naoe) Pascua of Koloa, William (Marina) Pascua of Koloa, Gemi (Priscilla) Pascua of Koloa; two daughters: Leonora (Jose) Masiclat of Kapulie, Nina “Dolly” (John) Gonsalves of Oma’o; 15 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at Borthwick Kaua’i Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 9 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. where services will be at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at the Koloa Public Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.
