Richard Van Mills
Richard Van Mills of Lihu’e, Kaua’i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, on Oct. 11, 2001, at the age of 54.
Born in the New York on Dec. 10, 1964, he was a Mechanic for Kone Elevators and also a member of American Legion & VFW.
He is survived by his wife: Loretta Silva-Mills of Lihu’e; six step-daughters: Jacquelyn (Lee) Burfiend, Maureen Kahoopii, Linda (Oveni) Naniseni, Loretta Anne (Max) Schmidt, Patricia Moreno-Monroy, Jennifer Illingsworth; two step-son: Gary T. (Donna) Wilson, Michael P. Wilson; three brothers: Preston (Arlene) Finfrock, Chester (Dolly) Mills, Lance Mills, mother-in-law: Trinidad Silva; 17 step-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Old Koloa Church. Services to be celebrated by Pastor Kilborn at 10:30 a.m. Casual attire is suggested and flowers be omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua’i Mortuary.
Harold Hamamura
Harold Hamamura of Lihu’e, Kaua’i, died at his residence on Oct. 12, 2001, at the age of 50.
Born in Lihu’e, Kaua’i, on Oct. 24, 1950, he was an Electrician with the Electric Company.
He is survived by his parents: Shigeto & Betty Hamamura of Lihu’e, one sister: Rose (Alan) Naito of California, nieces, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Kapa’a Missionary Church from 2 p.m. Services to be celebrated at 3 p.m. by Pastor Ed Terui. Casual attire is suggested and flowers be omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua’i Mortuary.
Alfred Kanoho
Alfred E. Kanoho, 88, of Lihu’e, Kaua’i died peacefully on Sept. 30, 2001, in Everett, Wash., while living with his oldest daughter Napua and son-in-law Pete Knight.
Alfred is also survived by second daughter Arder (George) Yamashita of Lihu’e, Kaua’i and a daughter-in-law Karen (Alfred) Kanoho of Waimanalo, O’ahu. Alfred has four step-daughters by his second marriage to Harriet Bannister. They are Harriet Tabura of Hilo, Hawai’i, Abby (Alexander) Ako of Kona, Hawai’i, Elizabeth Kamakana of Kahuku, Oahu and Patricia (James) Onaga of Hilo, Hawai’i. Alfred leaves behind two brothers, Ezra (Pauline) Kanoho of Lihu’e, Kaua’i, Ralph (Jean) Kanoho of Kane’ohe, O’ahu and two sisters, Gladiola (Reginald) Fellez and Cecilia (Walter) Young of Honolulu, Hawai’i; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Alfred retired from the Hawaiian Telephone Company (Verizon) and was preceded in death by his wife Harriet Kanoho and son Alfred I.A. Kanoho and three sisters, Bella Malina, Harriet Ha’ae and Kau’i Ae’a.
Following his retirement he enjoyed walking on Kaua’i. Prior to his death Alfred temporarily resided at Marysville, Washington Care Center rehabilitating from a broken hip and other complications.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Oct. 20, where memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., at the Lihu’e First Church on 4320 Nawiliwili Road.
Milagros Basilio
Milagros M. Basilio of ‘Ele’ele Nani, Kaua’i, died at home on Oct. 13, 2001, at the age of 49.
Born in Manila, Philippines on Oct. 17, 1951, she was a Laborer with Pioneer Hybrid International.
She is survived by her husband: Florencio Basilio of ‘Ele’ele Nani, Kaua’i, three daughters: Christine Basilio, Milaflor Basilio, Florence Basilio All of ‘Ele’ele Nani, Kaua’i; Mother: Eupehenia LaGaurdia; Sister: Emilia Baltazar of Philippines, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins
Friends may visit with the family at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19, at the Garden Island Mortuary chapel; rosary officiated by Father Keahi will begin at 7 p.m. Visitation also at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, at the ‘Ele’ele Sacred Heart Catholic Church; mass officiated by Father Pablo and Father Keahi will begin at 10:30 a.m. Followed by burial at Lihu’e Public Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.
