Leonardo “Leo” Pascu
Leonardo “Leo” S. Pascua of Kilauea, Kaua’i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Sept. 30, 2001 at the age of 59.
Born in the Philippines on Sept. 27, 1942, he was a well known hunter.
He is survived by two daughters: Madeleine “Maddie” Pascua of Kilauea; Kristie “Titi” Pascua of Kilauea; four sisters: Clarina Madamba of Kapa’a; Enriqueta (Manoio) Tiu of Kapa’a; Egiorina (Jose) Beltran of Kapa’a; Jadelyn (Larry) Rosa of Kilauea; one brother: Victor Pascua of Boston; and one grandson: Tylor Pacheco of Kilauea.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, Oct. 11, at St. Sylvesters Church in Kilauea from 9 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. where services will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Rosary at 9:30 a.m. Casual attire is suggested.

William W. Goodhue, Sr.
William W. Goodhue, Sr., M.D., longtime Kaua’i resident and native Hawaiian physician died at his home in Lihu’e on Oc.t 8, 2001, at the age of 88.
Born on June 4, 1913, in Kalaupapa, Molokai. Goodhue lived on Kaua’i since 1949, when he returned after completing an industrial surgery residency at St. Francis Hospital in Honolulu. After service in World War II. He delivered more than 4,000 babies during his practice of general medicine and surgery and treated many grandchildren and even great grandchildren of his original parents.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Rosemarie Vahousek Goodhue, and is survived by one son, Dr. WIlliam W. Jr. (Skip), a retired Army colonel, now First Deputy Medical Examiner for the City and County of Honolulu.
Visitation will be held at his home at 4548 Ekolu Street in Lihu’e form 6 to 9 p.m on Thursday, Oct. 11. Aloha attire is suggested. Remembrances may be forwarded to the charity of choice.
Interment will be at Meyer Cemetery at Kalae, Molokai, on Oct. 14.
Ruth Kajiwara
Ruth Kajiwara of Waimea, Kaua’i, died at Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital on Oct. 6, 2001, at the age of 85.
Born in Hanapepe, Kaua’i on July 17, 1916, she was a Hairdresser.
She is survived by: two sons: Eric (Waiala) Kajiwara of Waimea, Kaua’i; Calvin (Julie) Kajiwara of Kekaha, Kaua’i; daughter: Lorene (Glenn) Oda of Waimea, Kaua’i; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers: Junichi (Harriet) Kano of Hanapepe, Kaua’i and Henry (Jean) Kano of San Clemente, Calif., sister: Grace Nakashima of Lahaina, Maui; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel; service officiated by Rev. Wills of Waimea United Church of Christ will begin at 4:30 p.m. Casual attire is suggested.

Melchor Eder
Melchor Vea Eder of Lihu’e, Kaua’i, died at Queen’s Medical Center on Sept. 30, 2001, at the age of 86.
Born in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on Jan. 3, 1915, he was a retired irrigator with Lihue Sugar Plantation.
He is survived by: his wife: Maria Eder of Lihu’e, Kaua’i; four daughters: Adele (Marcello) Pedronan of Lihu’e, Kaua’i, Lucrecia (Frederico) Cacal of Lihu’e, Kaua’i, Magdalene (Jose) Acoba of Lihu’e, Kaua’i, and Carlina (Mark) DaSilva of Honolulu, Oahu; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother: Jacinto Eder of Philippines; Sister: Sotera Eder of Philippines; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 9 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, 2001 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic church; mass officiated by Father Paul will begin at 10:30 a.m. Followed by burial at Kauai Memorial Gardens. Casual attire is suggested.
