The 26th Annual Hawai’i Senior Softball Tournament was held August 7-9, at Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu.
Thirty-six teams were entered in five divisions – ‘A’ through ‘E.’
Kaua’i had at least one team in each division, and two in the ‘C’ category.
The K-Makules, playing in the ‘D’ division – was the Garden Island’s top-performing team at the tourney. The squad won all four of its games to claim the ‘D’ title.
In the ‘E’ division, Kawaihau played one of the more entertaining games in the tournament. In its second game, the team got four home runs from Don Boro, three dingers from Teddy Daligdig and two from Louis Nuseco, but lost 24-23.
The top team in the Kaua’i league, The Rookies, finished fifth overall in the ‘A’ division. West Kaua’i ended fifth in the ‘B’ division.
The Lihu’e A’s, competing in the ‘C’ division, placed second to the Yankees from Oahu. East Kaua’i finished fifth in the ‘C’ division.
The 27th tournament will be held on Maui, August 13-15, at the War Memorial Complex and Keopuolani Park.
