William Cambra
William “Billy” Cambra, of Kurtistown, Hawai’i, died on June 12, 2001 in Kurtistown, at the age of 80.
Born on Kaua’i. A retires dairyman for Toledo Twin pines Dairy.
He is survived by his wife: Rose of Kurtistown; three sons: William Pontes (Brenda) Cambra Jr. of Wai’anae, Edward Stein of California; and Thomas (Cheryl) Hosino of Hilo; two daughters: Rose Marie (Raymond) Costa of Wai’anae and Ida (Anthony) Swain of Kurtistown; brother: Ernest Cambra of California; sisters, Carole Moniz of Hilo, Frances Shaw of Evansville, Indiana and Henrietta (John) Perreira of Kailua, Oahu; 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, June 29, from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary, service at 7 p.m. And again on Saturday, June 30, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, at the mortuary, service at noon and burial 2 p.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery.

Vernon Boido
Dr. Vernon G. Boido, long time Koloa Physician Dr. Boido died in Visalia, CA on June 2, 2001 at the age of 84 years old.
Raised and educated in Mexico, Dr. Boido came to Kaua’i to operate the Koloa Dispensary in 1956 and continued to operate it until it closed in 1975. He took several positions as medical director including the Planned Parenthood Clinic, the Wai’anae Comprehensive Health Medical Center and his last position was as Medical Director of the San Joaquin Valley Medical Center, a position that he held until his retirement at the age of 80 years.
Dr. Boido is survived by his wife of 56 years, Martha, two daughters Roberta Joy Schilling (Frank), Marcella Alohalani Boido and one son Vernon Abram Boido (Jenine).
Private services were held in Visalia.
Grace Blake
Grace Lau Blake of Koloa, Kaua’i, died at Pali Momi Hospital, on June 21, 2001 at the age of 82.
Born in Honolulu, O’ahu on August 18, 1918, she was a retired school teacher at Koloa Elementary School.
She is survived by two sons; Hanale (Yvette) Blake; Ted (Tatiana) Blake; one daughter: Pattie (George) Silva Jr.; two brothers: Tommy Lau, Chubie Lau; three sisters: Lucille Wong; Marjorie Nakahodo; Mae McGinnis, 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, June 30, at the Koloa Christian Church, (White Church) from 9 a.m. Services to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at the Pa’ana’au Cemetery in Koloa.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua’i Mortuary.
Janet Greene
Janet Rose Greene of Bloomington, Indiana and resident of Sun Village, Kaua’i passed away on September 9, 2000 at Vencor Acute Care hospital.
Born March 29, 1939, in Hobart, Indiana, she was director of Physical Therapy Services at Winona Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis during the 1960’s. Then in the 70’s she was director of Physical Therapy Services and Rehabilitation Program at Methodist Hospital in Lubbock, Texas. Returning to Indiana, Janet was appointed to formulate the first coordinated rehabilitation program for special children in the Monroe County School System affording a broad range of Physical therapy and other services for handicapped students. Janet took early retirement in 1990 necessitated by the onset of Leukemia. On Kaua’i, she was a member of the Navy League, Friendship Force, Kauai Athletic Club, and attended Lihu’e Christian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Greene of Lihu’e and two sons, Barron Greene of Elk Grove Village, Illinois, and Troy Greene of Bloomington, Indiana; mother Helen Neitzel of Hobart, Indiana; brother, Norman Neitzel of Odessa, Texas; twin sisters, Gail Fagert of Paden City, West Virginia and Gwen O’Brien of Crown Point, Indiana; 1 granddaughter and 14 nieces and nephews. Her niece on Kauai is Therese Jasper.
Memorial services will be held at Lihu’e Christian Church on June 30, at 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Janet’s name for which contributions can be made to her Husband Bob Greene 3-3400 Kuhio Hwy., #A-209, Lihu’e, HI 96766.
Shigeto Takayama
Shigeto Takayama, of Lawa’i, Kaua’i, died on June 19, 2001, at the age of 72.
Born in Makaweli, Kaua’i, June 2, 1929. He was a Retired Insurance Adjuster for AIG and a Security Guard for Wachenhut Security Services.
He is survived by his wife: Sachiko; son: Shandon (Joyce) Takayama of Brydeswood; daughter: Eldene (Eric) Dang of Lihu’e; one brother: Patrick. 1 grandson. Casual attire is suggested.
Services will be held Saturday, June 30, Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Hanapepe, 10 a.m., burial to follow. Arrangements by Ultimate Cremation Services of Hawai’i.
Kelly Auerbach
Kelly “Mr. Kelly” Donald Auerbach of San Jose California (formerly of Kaua’i), died June 19, 2001 at the age of 83.
Born March 17, 1918, He was known in the Business Community as “Mr. Kelly”. He moved to Kaua’i in 1957 as manager of Gaspro. Later he became manager of Kaman Industrial Technologies, Corp. where he worked closely with the sugar plantations providing industrial chain and bearings necessary to operate the factories. He held his position until his retirement in 1982. He was a long time member of the Rotary Club of West Kaua’i.
He is survived by two daughters: Dagmar (William) Bills of California; Elodie (Manuel) Moniz, Jr. of Kalaheo; three grandchildren: Kellene (Clyde) Mukai of Hanapepe; Lorene (Rodney) Sasil of Eleele; Kelly (Tifanie) Bills of Texas, 7 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, June 29, at Borthwick Kaua’i Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 4 p.m. Services to be celebrated at 5:30 p.m. Inurnment of his cremated cremains will be at Oahu Cemetery at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 30. Family requests floral arrangements be omitted, but leis are excepted.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangement are being handled by Borthwick Kaua’i Mortuary.
