Island basketball tourney in June
The first-annual All-Kaua’i Men’s & Women’s Basketball Tournament will be held Friday, June 29 through Sunday, July 1 at Kaua’i High School.
Two men’s divisions will be contested: Open and six-foot and under. Eligible players are welcome to participate in both divisions. There will also be one women’s division.
Players of all ages, including high school, are encouraged to compete.
The tournament will be double-elimination, and the entry deadline is June 22. The tourney entry fee will be $200. Any interested players or teams should contact tournament coordinator Kaleo Perez at 245-4948 or page him at 644-1274.
Tennis & Swim camp
The Kaua’i Coconut Beach Resort Tennis Club will be holding its Summer Jr. Tennis and Swim Camp over three sessions beginning in June.
The first session runs Monday, June 11 through Friday, June 29. The second session runs Monday, July 9 through Friday, July 27. The third session runs Monday, August 6 through Wednesday, August 22. Camp days will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Kaua’i participates in state tennis
Some Kaua’i mixed division teams earned the opportunity to play in the statewide sectional playoffs of the United States Tennis Association – Hawai’i Section.
The sectionals were held at the Hilton Turtle Bay Resort in Kahuku over the weekend of June 10-11.
The Goonies defeated Tsunami for the Kaua’i 8.0 championship. In their first sectional playoff, Goonies defeated Kona two matches to one. It then lost to Oahu A one match to two.
Sudden Impact defeated two other teams for the Kaua’i 7.0 championship. Sudden Impact then won two of three matches against Oahu C; lost two of three to East Hawai’i; won three of three against Maui A; and lost two of three to Oahu E. Sudden Impact placed third in its bracket.
Hurricanes defeated two other teams for the Kaua’i 6.0 championship. The team was then blown away by Oahu A and B, 3-0, 3-0, and lost to Maui and East Hawai’i, 1-2, 1-2.

In 4.0 Women’s: Kamalii Mai Kaua’i won three out of five matches in their fourth encounter with Aces Wild.
In 3.5 Women’s: Embassy Rackettes won four of five matches against InSPArations.
In 3.0 Women’s: Le’ale’a defeated Lauhala Ladies in four out of five matches on Sunday. The Wicked Wahines swept the Ladies of the Court in all five matches on Monday.
